Private bus tour: Soviets in Berlin — The final battle for Berlin and the new beginning

The vehicle:

The minibus, called “Buchanka” (“box bread”) because of its charming shape, is a modern Soviet “old-timer”. Up to 8 guests (+ driver) can enjoy a unique and authentic experience. And there are a few surprises waiting on board!

The tour:

Off to the historic highlights of Berlin! This exclusive day tour allows you to travel back in time in a compact but intensive way. We start in the heart of Berlin at Berlin Central Station or your hotel and dive into Berlin between 1945 and 1990!

On the way to the impressive anti-aircraft bunker in Humboldthain, we make a short stop at the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße, the only authentic remnant of the border fortifications. The situation in Berlin shortly before and during the final Battle of Berlin is then discussed at the anti-aircraft bunker

.

We will then head for East Berlin. We will see some of the most important prestigious urban development projects in the GDR, such as Alexanderplatz or Stalinallee/Karl-Marx-Allee with its neo-classical and Eastern modern

buildings.

In Berlin-Karlshorst, it's off to the historic site where the surrender was signed on the night of May 9 [Attention: the museum is closed on Mondays].

Berlin Karlshorst later became an important Soviet power center with the seat of the Soviet military administration and the KGB headquarters for the entire GDR.

The “Buchanka” is now heading back to the center of Berlin. We make another stop at Treptower Park, because it is home to one of the most impressive monuments to the Second World War, which is also the final resting place for

thousands of fallen Soviet soldiers.

Passing sights such as the famous Checkpoint Charlie or the Topography of Terror (former location of the Gestapo), it's on to the Holocaust Memorial and the site where the Reich Chancellery with the “Führer Bunker” was once located.

At the last stop, we will visit the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, where the red flag was raised by Soviet soldiers at the beginning of May, and the first Soviet memorial in Berlin in the Tiergarten, which was still used as a vegetable field years after the war.

Finally, it's back to the starting point.
