Private sightseeing tour of Berlin in a Soviet minibus

Berlin - the starting point of the Second World War and the scene for the final “Battle of Berlin.” In the Cold War, this was the frontline city, finally divided by the “Berlin Wall.” Berlin is full of history — a city in which grief and suffering as well as hopes and departure are close together.

Take the retro “Buchanka” minibus on a special sightseeing tour to the highlights of Soviet Berlin!

The vehicle:

Called “Buchanka” (“box bread”) because of its charming shape, the minibus is a modern Soviet “old-timer”. Up to 8 guests (+ driver) can enjoy a unique and authentic experience. And there are a few surprises waiting on board!

The tour:

We board at Berlin Central Station. The “Buchanka” takes us across the Spree to the heart of the capital. The Reichstag was the end of the “Battle of Berlin” at the end of the Second World War in Europe. The impressive Soviet War Memorial bears witness to the bloody fighting in spring 1945.

Past the Brandenburg Gate, we head to Checkpoint Charlie, where Soviet and American tanks faced off against each other during the peak phase of the Cold War. Alexanderplatz and Karl-Marx-Strasse are impressive urban development projects in the socialist GDR. Between the television tower and socialist mosaics as well as Soviet confectionary style and socialist brutalism, you can feel the old splendor of East Berlin.

The “Buchanka” is now heading for the Spree again. The kilometre-long Eastside Gallery was once part of the almost insurmountable Berlin Wall. On the other side of the river is the Kreuzberg district of West Berlin.

To top it off, we drive to Treptower Park. Here we visit the gigantic Soviet War Memorial with its reverent history and impressive architecture.

Then it's back to Berlin Central Station.
