Today, we know Hamburg as a modern and bustling city. But how did it actually come about? How did Hamburg develop into the big city that we know today? To answer these questions, we embark on a 2-hour tour of the various eras of Hamburg's city history.
Starting with the beginnings of the Hammaburg, through the Hanseatic League, the great fire, the colonial era and the industrial revolution, we look at how history affected Hamburg's urban development.
On our way from Town Hall to Deichstraße, we discover the oldest traces of the city, take a look at magnificent office buildings from the inside, and experience the picturesque flair of the last remaining relics of the old town.
